The team at Slager Madry LLC has a long track record of deep experience and success when it comes to handling all types of traumatic or acquired brain injuries. We understand that brain injuries — sometimes referred to as concussions — are different from most other conditions, especially given that the symptoms can take time to become noticeable. Our firm is prepared to help those living with a brain injury due to someone else’s negligence pursue the financial compensation they deserve.

How Our Firm Can Help

A traumatic or other acquired brain injury can turn your life upside down. Here’s how our team can help:

Investigating Your Injury

You need more than a diagnosis in order to recover compensation following a head or brain injury. To prevail in court, you’ll need proof of how the injury happened, who caused it, and why it should never have happened. Our attorneys review accident reports, look over medical and therapy records, and speak with witnesses to get to the bottom of what happened. In serious cases, the firm may work with accident reconstruction professionals to break down exactly what occurred.

Gathering Evidence

The success of brain injury cases often comes down to the strength of your medical evidence. Our firm can use hospital records, imaging results, and opinions from neurologists and other specialists to establish how your injury occurred.

Negotiating With the Other Side

Insurance companies do not hand out fair settlements without a good reason. If they can find a way to limit their liability in a case, you can count on them to do just that. Our attorneys can not only build a strong case but also use that evidence to show the insurer that we are likely to win at trial. This can improve your odds of getting a fair settlement offer.

Litigating Your Case When Necessary

Most cases settle, but not all. If the other side refuses to act reasonably, Slager Madry will always prepare your case for trial. That preparation often pressures the defense to reconsider. If a trial becomes necessary, your lawyer presents the evidence in a clear, direct way so that a jury understands what the injury has truly cost you. Trials always come with risks because there are no guaranteed results, but they can also result in larger recoveries.

You Have a Limited Time to Act

Under Connecticut law, you must generally file your lawsuit within two years from the date you were injured. That said, you may have additional time if you did not discover your injury the moment it happened. This needs to be analyzed by a qualified attorney on a case-by-case basis. While you can still file a lawsuit within two years of discovering your brain injury, there is a firm three-year deadline that always applies. Waiting too long to pursue your case can be devastating, as the court may have no choice but to dismiss it forever.

Our Firm Understands Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation

Slager Madry attorneys are among the most experienced brain injury lawyers in Connecticut. They also have a long and close relationship with the Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut.
